Promoting Newcomer Integration and Social Inclusion through Community Participation and Engagement
Project Overview
This project identified and developed resources to facilitate and encourage community engagement and participation by new Canadians. The materials can be used by local immigrant and refugee serving organizations across Ontario to help newcomers in their process of settlement and integration and to promote their social inclusion.
The use and implementation of these practices, resources and tools will enable immigrant and refugee-serving organizations across Ontario to inform and help immigrants become involved in their communities and the larger Canadian society.
As a result, more newcomers become aware of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, including human rights, tolerance and respect for diversity, and more newcomers will become aware of citizenship engagement opportunities including volunteerism.
